The Castro Theater, created out of LEGO bricks complete with custom printed graphics and signage. I’ve long had a love for theaters: the glow and the warmth they emit, the ensemble performance - whether it be stage or screen – happening on the inside, and the overall feeling of people coming together to experience art at a glorious venue. After a flight to San Francisco in 2010 my wife and I decided to take in a movie at the Castro Theater. I immediately fell in love with the architecture, the signage and the marquee and put The Castro Theater on my ‘list’ of projects to create. Fast forward to 2020, I finally decided to start the Castro Theater project.  I took my time with it through-out the year, mixed in with other commissioned and work-for-hire pieces as time permitted. I studied it and developed the details and textures and determined how I wanted to render them in LEGO. After around 60 hours of designing and building this piece, I could not be happier with the results.
